Natural or Synthetic? Comparing Hair Extensions

When it comes to hair extensions, many people would say that it’s better to go natural. However, this doesn’t stop others from getting synthetic variants, which they say are cheaper and just as beautiful. The debate rages on to this day and while both types of hair extensions have their merits, it’s only fair for you to know the lowdown on natural and synthetic hairs, whether it is the right choice for you personally.

Natural or human hair extensions can boast longevity and ease of maintenance since they’re harvested from natural sources and aren’t treated with chemicals and dyes. At the very least, natural extensions can last for six months even with minimal care, while the right selection of shampoos and hair treatments can allow them to remain beautiful for a year or so. Obviously, natural hair extensions look more, well, natural and it can be hard to tell if a person is indeed wearing them or not.

Synthetic hair extensions, on the other hand, are more fragile and tend to last for only a few weeks or months. However, they’re cheaper, easier to style, and they tend to retain their shape longer than natural hairs, thanks to the chemicals used to make them. Unfortunately, this also means that they can’t be washed using an ordinary shampoo nor can they be styled using a hot hair curler.
